Harnessing Curiosity and Simplicity in a Multicultural World

We are evolving into an increasingly connected yet culturally diverse society. As globalization and technology continue to shape the post-pandemic era, they effectively shrink our world, creating a complex global environment that impacts both our personal lives and businesses. It is no wonder this transformation might make us nostalgic for the good old days when we were kids and things were much simpler.

I was born in Yugoslavia, during a period when it stood as one of Europe’s most ethnically diverse countries. After the nation dissolved, I was brought to Scotland at the age of nine. Facing the challenge of adapting to a new culture and language was incredibly difficult. Despite the circumstances, I grew to be grateful for the experiences, which have left an indelible mark on everything I have done since, fueling my curiosity, exploration, and appreciation for diverse cultures and people.

From a very young age, skiing was not just a passion but a lifeline. It taught me resilience and adaptability—qualities that were essential as I navigated my way through various job roles in multiple continents. Working as an International Ski Coach to fund my university studies taught me the value of hard work and the importance of balancing multiple responsibilities. Each step of my career in Fortune 500 companies, from managing risk solutions at State Street to leading the Professional Services business at S&P Global, exposed me to culturally vibrant environments and a variety of business practices. This broadened my perspectives by exposing me to different traditions, viewpoints, and ways of life.

My work across highly technical fields, often discussed on platforms like CNBC during interviews on Hedge Fund Activity, highlighted the importance of high-context and low-context communication. It taught me how these communication styles vary across different cultures and countries. These challenges—from cultural shifts and industry switching to technical fields—guided me to seek mentors and coaches, helping me grow through a supportive system and community.

Inspired by these lessons, I founded Tellmemore Ventures to empower others to creatively overcome traditional barriers. We encourage individuals to take charge of their destinies, simplifying the complexities that often cloud our paths. Our approach isn’t just about providing tools; it’s about nurturing a mindset that every challenge is a stepping stone to innovation and self-actualisation. We focus on fostering team cohesion, creative growth, and channelling childlike curiosity to simplify and improve life and business practices.

My commitment to inclusivity drove me to explore the persistent gender gap in corporate leadership. The research, which was published across media outlets including Fortune Magazine, contributed to highlight disparities and spark further actions toward increasing the representation of female CEOs. This work reflects my belief that diversity is not just beneficial but essential for the health of any community and organisation. Understanding that real change begins with the younger generation, I published a children’s picture book called ‘Walter the Wanderer’. The story follows Walter the Otter and his friends on adventures that introduce children to new geographies, languages, and cultures. This book aims to build compassion while fostering a sense of global citizenship and inclusivity among our youth.

My journey as a lifelong learner always brings me back to the profound role of intuition in shaping our decisions and paths. In our fast-paced, technology-driven world, it’s easy for the subtle voice of intuition to be drowned out. Recognizing and preserving this innate capability requires us to sometimes disconnect and engage with the quieter, reflective spaces in our lives. Often our wisest self lies with our childlike curiosity and natural sense of wonder. As Aldous Huxley poignantly stated, “A childlike adult (sic) is not an adult whose development has been arrested; on the contrary, they are an adult who has given themselves a chance to continue developing long after most adults have muffled themselves in the cocoon of middle-aged habit and convention.”

Conclusion:

Pavle Sabic’s journey is a testament to his commitment to lifelong learning and fostering inclusivity through good communication and valuing ideas. He is a believer in using technology ethically for growth but also remembering to disconnect and find your true values.
