1. Could you tell us more about yourself and what your typical day looks like?

I am a hustler who believes careers can take you to many good places. The past two years have shifted my career to a complete 180 degrees. I am continuously evolving and enjoying the process. I believe in the power of change and I love the idea of inspiring people  around the world. It allows me to feel compassion and be grateful for my life.

My days are usually flexible and varied. I start with movement as it brings positive energy and calmness for the rest of the day. There are days when I have a ton of meetings, presentations, and follow-ups. As a remote worker, I have control over my schedule, which I love. I am a night owl, so I complete most of my tasks at night. But once I get to bed, it is a new day and I get back to the grind.

2. What inspired you to make a career change?

I have spent around 23 years in the automotive advertising industry. It provided me with ample experience and I created many professional relationships that are still valuable to me.

The unfortunate part, however, was during the chip shortage in the automotive industry. Those times were a game-changer for me and I had to take a step back and contemplate my future. I got the opportunity to explore some industries, and finally, I discovered an opportunity in the healthcare industry where I can make a difference and be an agent of change. Now, I am driven to help people learn how to save money in an industry driven by greed. The future holds many surprises and I am excited to create opportunities for myself and those around me.

3. Can you share about any mentors that have influenced your journey?

My grandmother was my first mentor, instilling in me the values that became my moral compass throughout my career. Challenges were the building blocks of a person’s character and personality for her. The unconditional love that I received stays within me to this day as well.

When I was around twenty, I landed a job where the owner introduced me to his friend, George Ford, who became my second mentor down the road. He provided me with all the insights into marketing, branding, and advertising, which were not available easily during that time. He had a huge influence in my life and I am thankful to him for being an incredible mentor.

4. Is there anything you would change if you could?

I wish I had gotten my bachelor’s degree. When I was starting, I wanted a fashion degree but there were not many fashion schools that provided a bachelor’s. So, I got my associate’s degree after I moved to Florida. The bachelor’s degree program started two years after I had entered the automotive industry and at that point, I was living a happy and fulfilled life, so I decided not to go back. In hindsight, it created more challenges. There were many jobs that I wanted but I was not given the opportunity because of the lack of a bachelor’s degree.

5. What is something that you are proud to have overcome in life?

On both personal and professional levels, the biggest obstacle was COVID-19 and the lockdowns. I like to socialize and meet new people. My son  was a year and a half when the wave started and it was difficult to juggle working from home and having a toddler at the same time. It was a truly demanding time, but I am happy that everyone pulled together and emerged stronger on the other side.

6. Where do you see yourself in five years?

Ideally, I would like to own a family compound surrounded by nature. I would love to be self-sustained and learn to make all of our food from an organic and, not a processed standpoint. I would also like to pursue other hobbies. We love going to the beach. I would like to get into woodworking and horseback riding. Ultimately, I want to just be able to appreciate life for what it is and embrace each day as it comes.

7. Do you have any advice for people who are trying to form habits?

Believe in yourself. You can achieve anything you put your mind to. Regroup and reset. Remind yourself why you choose that  particular path and refocus on it. Sometimes you need to take a step back. If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. Consistency is key. This way of thinking helps you to reevaluate as you make progress and also realigns your purpose to achieve your goals.

8. Do you have any tips on how to be an efficient speaker?

Be true to yourself and educate yourself on the subject. You don’t have to create embellishments to make the story great. It is about speaking your truth, resonating with your audience, and believing in what you are saying. Read your audience and they will connect with you, especially if you are passionate.

9. Can you tell us about your interests outside of work?

My favorite pastime is playing poker, both cash and tournaments, which I find enjoyable whenever I get the opportunity.

I also cherish spending time with my five-year-old son, engaging in arts and crafts such as paintings, drawings, and sculpting clay. Recently, we have been exploring gardening, and appreciating the beauty of nature simultaneously. These moments of connection with my family provide me with immense joy and prepare me for the next day.

10. Do you have any inspirational quotes/mantras that you follow?

“This too shall pass” was always my grandmother’s favorite saying. It has helped me to believe that no matter how bad a situation is, it can always improve. Another mantra I have held close for 20 years is, “Thank you for what I have received.” I believe that if you’re grateful for the things you have received, it opens the world to positive energy and abundance.

Studies have shown that the part of our brain that controls gratefulness and appreciation also controls fear. It has been shown  that we cannot have both fear and gratitude at the same time. This thought process has allowed me to face challenges head-on by changing my mindset, both personally and professionally.

Another mantra I follow is: “I am a magnet for abundance and my abundance comes from infinite sources.” I believe that abundance can be manifested. Everybody can manifest it by thinking, meditating, and/or speaking about it.

Conclusion:

Jorie Damiani’s journey embodies the essence of adaptability, resilience, and the pursuit of personal growth.
